Hi there!
My name is Bri, and I'm so happy you're starting this journey of getting connected with someone.
I am a culturally affirming, social justice oriented therapist who practices from a relational cultural, trauma-informed lens. I am passionate about creating safe, welcoming spaces for all people, especially those who hold any identities that have been historically oppressed or underrepresented.
When working with my clients, I invite curiosity for what it might be like to recognize that the majority of distress experienced is not due to their own brokenness, but due to living in a system that wasn't built for them (and doesn't serve anyone, really) and developing protective strategies to help cope with that system. What would it be like to stop trying to force oneself into a rigid one size fits no one box and embrace supposed deficits as strengths instead and soften judgment for these protective strategies?
As a daughter of Chinese immigrants myself, I am particularly drawn to working with other second generation immigrants, especially those of Asian backgrounds, as well as any individuals who identify as Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color/Culture.
I am affirming of all racial/ethnic identities, sexualities, gender expressions, neurodiversities, and body sizes. I use an anti-oppressive, anti-racist lens, both personally and professionally. I am interested in both individual and collective wellbeing and believe you cannot have one without the other.
